Bike Build of the Month - July (Maverick ML-8)

Passion Trail Bikes specializes in customizing your bike build to your needs and desires. We deliver an equal number of full custom builds starting with frames from Maverick, Turner, Specialized, Giant, and Intense as we do bikes that begin life as stock bike builds from Specialized, Giant, and Maverick. All bikes are delivered with at least some level of customization, sometimes just a stem change and suspension tuning, but more often a bit more complex to make sure we deliver the best possible ride for any given rider or desired trail experience. Frequently we start with a bike or frame that is already in stock at Passion, but we also special order many bikes and frames to suit our customer’s needs.

If you are interested in a bike that is custom tuned to you riding preferences, download our personalization spreadsheet and come visit us for a free build consultation.

To show examples of the bikes we have built, I am going to try a “bike build of the month” series here (kind of like a calendar, but without the bikini models). Here is the first one…

A customer was looking to upgrade from an Ellsworth Moment he was riding. He wanted a long travel bike that is reasonably light, pedals well, but has good trail manners and outstanding downhill performance.
We built up a Maverick ML-8 for him with an interesting mix of light (ML-8 frame, XTR components, handbuilt King/Mavic 819 wheelset) with extreme performance all mountain or “free ride” components (36 Van fork, 2.5” tires, upright ride position, 8” rotors).
The owner reported “Weighing in at 31 pounds with 6.5” of travel front and rear, this baby is as fun on twisty singletrack in the Demo as it is going all out through the rocks in Downieville.”
