Sunset is at 8:25PM this Wednesday 06/02/2010. Twilight ends and near-darkness falls right around 9:15pm.
Next week on June 7, the Regular Ride launches at 6:30PM, and will for the rest of the summer.
With the warmth of a holiday weekend still glowing on the hillsides, we are looking forward to some longer loops through Waterdog and connecting to some nearby areas. Bring a windbreaker for the twilight descent back to the shop, and make an effort to get an extra loop in this week!

Please remember to put a light on your handlebar and have a blinky ready for the ride back to the shop! CA vehicle code requires it. Don’t get caught out on the streets in the dark! Also, a reminder that we need to be super conscientious about stopping at stop signs and lights, yielding to pedestrians, and operating our bikes predictably and responsibly while on the roads and trails. Let’s be safe and kind out there.
For all the details about what makes each group listed below unique, please refer to this webpage. If your questions aren’t answered there, you can also email us for info at info@passiontrailbikes.com.
All rides start pedaling from the shop: Passion Trail Bikes, 415 Old County Road, Belmont, CA 94002 650-620-9798.
The FRISKY rides will go out at 6:15 PM.The REGULAR rides will go out at 6:30 PM.
The WHITE SOCKS ride will go out at 6:35 PM.
The FBG or Fat Bottomed Girl ride will go out at 6:35 PM.
The STRAGGLERS ride may form and start chasing around 6:45 PM.
For future planning, we have the upcoming start times each week for the first wave of the REGULAR ride posted on our Community Calendar
Note we may not have leaders for each ride but usually someone knows their way around. All groups will meet back here at Passion Trail Bikes right around dark for the usual story telling & beverage enjoyment. We will have stuff to eat plus chips and fatty snacks and EANABS to pair up with the Devil’s Canyon Brewery’s Full Boar Scotch Ale, Silicon Blonde Ale, and Little Devil Root Beer. We will hang out until about 10pm, so come on down, even if you can’t make the ride! Passion Parties are better with YOU in the mix!

4. Access4Bikes: Vote for Mazzoni in MarinSkip to next topic

If you support legalizing more trails for mountain biking in Marin County Open Space, this is the most important local election to you and your biking friends and families in three decades.
YOUR VOTE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 8 IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL IF WE WANT TO CHANGE THE RIDING EXPERIENCE IN MARIN FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!
If you’re a mountain biker and live in District 1 – the greater San Rafael area, as well as the unincorporated neighborhoods of Santa Venetia, Los Ranchitos, Country Club, Bayview, Lucas Valley, Terra Linda and Marinwood—your vote for Kerry Mazzoni for Marin County Supervisor is a vote for CHANGE to amend policies that currently outlaw mountain biking on 97% of all trails in Marin County Open Space.
Marin County Supervisor is an extremely powerful political position. This group of five govern all trail regulations and usage rights throughout Marin County Parks & Open Space. A4B has been working for the past 10 years with this agency to open more trails to bikes and to pilot trail sharing programs which work well in other California counties. However, little progress has been made, as we have had difficulty finding that all important 3rd vote on the Board.
It’s time for new leadership on this Board!
Access4Bikes sent both District 1 candidates - two-term incumbent Susan Adams and her challenger, Kerry Mazzoni - a questionnaire on the bike issues. To view their responses, go to our website. Based on their responses and interviews, Access4Bikes is endorsing Kerry Mazzoni for Supervisor.
This is our best opportunity to bring about CHANGE in this County. There are 40,000 adult mountain bikers in Marin – but it’s the residents of District 1 with the voting power to make a difference on Tuesday, June 8th, for the future of mountain biking. Please forward this email to every mountain biker, friend of a mountain biker, family member of a mountain biker that you know that lives in the San Rafael area.
5. Bay Area Ridge Trail in the News, Interactive MapLast week a bunch of newspapers around the bay area featured articles on the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Check out the coverage by stopping by the Ridge Trail’s new website here: www.ridgetrail.org.

Their new website includes downloadable trail maps, much improved site navigation, search, new calendar, and perhaps most fun of all, the Ridge Trail route in GoogleMaps. A volunteer worked hard to integrate our route information into GoogleMaps and it’s an amazing way to learn more about the Ridge Trail and access to it.
Want to see what part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail cyclists can ride (~85% of open Ridge Trail is open to cyclists)?? Well, now, with one easy selection you can clearly see what segments you can ride (and conversely the parts you can not). Visit http://ridgetrail.org/interactive_map/&Itemid=99/ then in the list box on the lower left, select “I’d like to see… trails on which I can ride my bike”, and voila… all the Ridge Trail you can ride is displayed in the map on the right. You can zoom in, fly around, view the trail in Terrain or Satellite View, or even view it in GoogleEarth. Double click on a trail segment, and you are given links to the downloadable trail map for that segment.
Check it out! All feedback welcome and appreciated.
