Tomorrow, on Wednesday 10/28, we will be hosting a wonderful women’s event with special guest Amy Shreve from Specialized. Amy will be bringing a truck with a load of Women’s Specific Design road and mountain bikes, and offering up test rides for so you can get a feeling for how these bikes are engineered to fit women’s proportions. Amy will also be giving a presentation after the ride on some of the work Specialized has done with their Body Geometry products to make sure that contact points like saddles, chamois, shoes, and gloves, fit women and work to make riding more fun and more comfortable.

Schedule:
Rides at 5pm – gear up, select a bike, and depart on road or mountain rides by 5:30pm.
Potluck, presentation, and Q&A starting at 7pm.

Please RSVP to Patty by sending an email to patty@passiontrailbikes.com, include if you would like to test a road or mountain bike, and if you want to bring a dish for the potluck.

2. Passion’s Candlelight Halloween Party 10/29
Skip to next topic

Perhaps you didn’t know that Halloween is Charles’ favorite holiday. Hmmm. It gets us all speculating. Why Halloween and not, say Christmas, when the shop is hoppin’ with eager buyers? We’re not really sure, but maybe it’s that his inner werewolf gets restless and needs expression. Maybe it’s the fun of guessing who is behind that amazing disguise. Maybe it’s the dim lights, candles, and dark shadows.

Whatever it is, Charles needs you to come celebrate Halloween with him. If you come, you are sure to be delighted by the wonderful costumes, the very special mood lighting of hundreds of candles, the great food and drink, the comraderie of hanging out with like minded and equally deranged friends. So, do it. Put the Passion Halloween Party on your calendar now, and start planning your escape from reality.

Thursday October 29th. 8:00pm to 11:00pm-ish

3. Service Bench Time! Get Your Deferred Maintenance Done Fast
Skip to next topic

With autumn’s arrival, the seasonality of our business suddenly presents an opportunity for those of you who hate waiting: short queues in the service department for bench time working on your bike. For example, we have slots open for this Friday if you need something fixed on your bike.

Autumn is a great time to schedule deferred maintenance. If you’ve been experiencing leaking fork seals, squeaky pivots, or fading brake levers, you can get these things resolved quickly by calling us at 650-620-9798 to make a service appointment.

And have you been considering upgrading a component or two to lighten your bike or solve a performance problem? We can help you sort through your options for ideas such as building up a sweet set of custom wheels with tubeless rims, putting a bigger rotor on the front of your bike, installing a height adjustable seat post, or evalutating whether your drivetrain is toast after a season of hard riding or just needs a new chain.

We build the strongest, lightest, and most durable wheels available. And prettiest too.

Lastly, if you’ve had a hard time feeling comfortable and balanced on your bike, consider getting a professional fitting done to evaluate your position relative to your bottom bracket, saddle, handlebars and cleats. Charles is a master fitter and can help you alleviate pain and the random pitfalls associated with having your body cramped or stretched while you ride.

4. Trailwork Dates Coming Up – Git Yer Soft Dirt Diggin In

Well, yes indeed the dirt is NICE. Patty has scheduled a number of dates, some near, some far, far in the future, to get the Lake Loop Trail realignment project completed in Waterdog Park. If you haven’t been by the lake lately, something amazing has happened. It’s FULL! And the old Lake Loop Trail is now underwater. Time to get moving on finishing up the realignment of this important recreational experience in one of the prettiest places on the peninsula.

We are looking for a few people who can either help out just as a volunteer to do some digging, or perhaps as a crew leader or co-leader, or recruiter helper to help boost turnout and productivity on our workdays. Projects will include brushing out the last bit of uncleared trail corridor, digging dirt to cut in the new trail, installing timber and rock retaining walls, building switchbacks, building bridges, and MORE. We are going to need a LOT of help!

Dates on our trailwork calendar are as follows:

Saturday 11/7
Saturday 12/19
Sunday 1/10
Sunday 1/31
Saturday 2/13
Sunday 2/28
Saturday 3/20
Sunday 4/11
Thursday 4/22
