Sunset is at 7:58PM this Wednesday 08/19/09. Twilight ends and near-darkness falls right around 8:35pm. Next week on August 26th the Regular Ride launches at 6:00PM!!

This week a few riders are bringing body armor for a Test Your Limits Ride. This is for those of you who habitually walk certain sections, or choose the easier of two options. So to combat placid acceptance of the status quo in your riding skills, pad up and join in on the fun. Elbow guards, knee guards, shoulder pads, etc will all be in use tomorrow. You can try that skinny on Lower Creek. The left hand optional climb on the way from Finch to Elevator on Rambler. The PAVERS. Do-overs will be encouraged!

Please remember to put a light on your handlebar and have a blinky ready for the ride back to the shop! CA vehicle code requires it. Don’t get caught out on the streets in the dark! Also, a reminder that we need to be super conscientious about stopping at stop signs and lights, yielding to pedestrians, and operating our bikes predictably and responsibly while on the roads and trails. Let’s be safe and kind out there.

Riders and Food Prep Staging for the Wednesday Wride

The EARLY ride will go out at 6:00 PM.
The REGULAR rides will go out between 6:15 and 6:25 PM.
The WHITE SOCKS ride will go out at 6:25 PM.
The FBG or Fat Bottomed Girl ride will go out at 6:25 PM.
The STRAGGLERS ride goes out sometime around6:45 PM.
For future planning, we have the upcoming start times each week for the first wave of the REGULAR ride posted on our Community Calendar

Note we may not have leaders for each ride but usually someone knows their way around. All groups will meet back here at Passion Trail Bikes right around dark for the usual story telling & beverage enjoyment. We will have stuff to eat plus chips and fatty snacks and EANABS to pair up with the Devil’s Canyon Brewery’s Full Boar Scotch Ale, Silicon Blonde Ale, and Little Devil Root Beer. We will hang out until about 10pm, so come on down, even if you can’t make the ride! Passion Parties are better with YOU in the mix!

This month food will be catered by the amazing chef Chris Aquino who has planned a fabulous menu with Spanish dishes to delight your tastebuds! Come test ride a new 2010 Giant at Northstar! Friday through Sunday, August 21-23, Giant will have tents of brand spankin’ new mountain bikes for you to test-thrash on the cross country or downhill trails available for your lift-assisted riding pleasure!

4. Biketoberfest!!!! Saturday October 10th, Fairfax

BIKETOBERFEST!

The Biketoberfest beer tasting features over 20 beers from 15 Northern California brewers. The fee for the tasting is $20 and includes a commemorative Biketoberfest 8oz. glass.

WHAT: A celebration of the bicycle for all cyclists of all ages
WHEN: Saturday, October 10, 2009 11 am – 6 pm
LOCATION: FairAnselm Plaza parking lot at 765 Center Blvd. Fairfax, Ca 94930
(next to Iron Springs Pub and Java Hut)
ADMISSION: FREE Includes bike expo, vintage bike show, kids activities and music
BEER TASTING: $20 per person proceeds benefit bicycle advocacy in Marin County
