1. Repair/Maintenance Service Appointments Save You Time, Make You Happy

With the onset of warmer temperatures, dry trails, and fantastic trail side views of both flora and fauna, Passion’s service department is packed with bikes coming out of hibernation, as well as those that have been rode hard and put up wet all Winter.

As of today, if you drop off your bike for service today, it will sit here about a week before we have time in our schedule to work on it, unless it is a really simple repair, or you convincingly express some urgency to get it back in time for CCCX, or the Wednesday Wride, or whatever it is that you can’t miss. As spring advances, our service backlog may get even longer, and begging may become less effective if it forces our mechanics to work overtime. And if you are racing Sea Otter, know that you will be competing not only for a good place at the start line, but also a good space in our service schedule.

In an attempt to prevent any need for begging or bribery, please plan ahead! Try to anticipate your service needs and give us a call or email a week or two in advance of any service your bike may need. With a service appointment, you drop your bike off the day before and we can usually turn your bike around the next day, returning it clean, inspected, tuned, and ready for anything spring might throw your way. You’ll be so happy!

Don’t let your bike go uninspected and unmaintained, leaving you with some ride ending mechanical failure, stranded far from the trailhead. Make an appointment now for a spring tune up! Call our service department at 650-620-9798 or email us at info@passiontrailbikes.com.

Don’t carry your bike back to the car in two pieces! It’s not fun! It doesn’t make you happy!

2. Support SF Urban Riders and IMBA at the Sea Otter

Please support our SF Urban Riders and IMBA at the Sea Otter Classic on April 18th by making a donation.

All Donations will support IMBA and SF Urban Riders (a San Francisco Based Mountain Bike Advocacy Group). Your help will fund SF Urban Rider’s proposed projects like the McLaren Park bike skills and cyclocross complex, and the Crocker Amazon Youth Bike Program. The remaining portion will go to IMBA to support better trails worldwide. This is a great time to donate because SRAM is matching our efforts. We have taken some big steps towards making the SF Bike Park a reality and its time to start raising some funds, so dig down into those deep pockets and let’er rip!

Donating is simple.

1. Go to http://go.imba.com/http://bit.ly/imbasfur

2. Then click “Make a Gift” on the right side of the page.

3. Chose the amount you want to donate, anything would help.

4. Thats it. You’re done.

This is a great chance to give back to Mountain biking. Thanks in advance for your help.

4. Weekly Wednesday Wrides 3/25 5:45pm

Sunset is at 7:25pm this Wednesday 03/25/09. Twilight ends and darkness falls right around 8:10pm. Next week the Regular Ride launches at 6:00pm

This week we are renewing our habit of having one or more themed rides. Jay and Sterling are planning on a little pleasure/pain ride on their SingleSpeeds. Check the link below for a description, including an explanation of the “chastity belt” that these SSers require if your bike has shifters.

Reminder: we are back at it with the spring Hustle hustle! Arrive with your shorts on and your camelback already full of water. Let’s make a solid effort to launch the rides at the alloted times. Stragglers will straggle and make up their own ride (there may be several of you this week). No waiting around!

P. L. E. A. S. E. . . . P. U. T. . . . L. I. G. H. T. S. . . . O. N ! ! ! !

Please remember to put a light on your handlebar and have a blinky ready for the ride back to the shop! CA vehicle code requires it. Don’t get caught out on the streets in the dark! Also, a reminder that we need to be super conscientious about stopping at stop signs and lights, yielding to pedestrians, and operating our bikes predictably and responsibly while on the roads. While we are not the only cyclists out there we are certainly the easiest place to lodge complaints. Let’s be safe and kind out there.

For all the details about what makes each group unique, please refer to this webpage. If your questions aren’t answered there, you can also email us for info at info@passiontrailbikes.com.

All rides start pedaling from the shop: Passion Trail Bikes, 415 Old County Road, Belmont, CA 94002 650-620-9798

Riders queuing up for the launch of the Wednesday Wride

The SINGLE SPEED ride will go out at 5:40 PM.
The REGULAR ride will go out at 5:45 PM.
The FBG or Fat Bottomed Girl ride will go out at 5:50 PM.
The WHITE SOCKS ride will go out at 5:50 PM.
The STRAGGLERS ride goes out at 6:00 PM.
For future planning, we have the upcoming start times each week for the REGULAR ride posted on our Community Calendar

Note we may not have leaders for each ride but usually someone knows their way around. All groups will meet back here at Passion Trail Bikes right around dark for the usual story telling & beverage enjoyment. We will have stuff for the BBQ along with some carbo laden side dish, chips and fatty snacks and EANABS to pair up with the Devil’s Canyon Brewery’s Full Boar Scotch Ale, Silicon Blonde Ale, and Little Devil Root Beer. We will hang out until about 10pm, so come on down, even if you can’t make the ride! Passion Parties are better with YOU in the mix!

5. Volunteers Sought for Trail Building Saturday at Waterdog Lake Saturday 3/28

Volunteers making the first cut during tread construction on the Lake Loop Trail

We are in full swing pushing forward on the Lake Loop Trail realignment project at Waterdog Lake. Our next workday is Saturday March 28th, and we will be partnering with the Belmont Lions club. Our workday will start at 8:30am and go until about 1:00pm. We will be working on extending tread construction on the south side of the lake. The project will involve moving a lot of dirt, some rocks, and building one or more retaining walls depending on turnout.

WE NEED YOU! Please volunteer a few hours to help build this great new trail!

To get involved and get details on the meeting location, please send Patty an email at patty@passiontrailbikes.com and let her know you can pitch in. She will get back to you with more information on the workday. RSVPs are important so she has enough crew leaders, coffee, bagels and tools to go around. Thanks so much!
