1. Waterdog Trailwork Saturday 2/7 9:00am
Patty Will be leading another maintenance project in Waterdog Park tomorrow (Saturday 2/7) in the morning. Please consider joining her and putting in a few hours to keep our local trails sweet.

Only 200 feet of the Finch Trail remain to be brushed back. The work party will probably start from the top of Rambler and work down to Finch and then continue down Rambler.
Please RSVP to Patty by emailing patty@passiontrailbikes.com to let her know if you can assist and to get details of where we are meeting. She promises strong tasty coffee, fresh bagels, and more to keep the workday fun.

California State Parks authorities, in response to a number of complaints, have announced the pending closure of all unauthorized trails in the section of Henry Cowell State Park west of Hwy 9 and east of UCSC in Felton. The area, known variously as Magic Carpet, UC, Pogonip, or Felton, has suffered from an influx of shuttlers driving vehicles on an adjacent private road, as well as increased littering on highway pullouts, recent injuries requiring medical assistance, and continued unauthorized trail building.
The flyer below was forwarded to Mark Davidson, president of Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz earlier this week. The date on the flyer doesn’t match the day so we don’t know which is correct.

There is an active discussion about this issue MTBR as well as on the MBOSC email list.

IMBA is working hard to help our Federal government modify rules related to allowing bicycling on existing trails in National Parks. But IMBA cannot be successful without the participation of thousands of individual mountain bikers commenting on a proposed rule change. The deadline for comments is February 18th. IMBA is hoping that at least 10,000 mountain bikers will write in support! Please add your voice!
IMBA has produced a short YouTube video you can watch here:
You can use IMBA’s handy online form to submit your comments to the National Park Service regarding the proposed rule change for converting trails to multi-use.
Visit IMBA’s website for more info on the rule change.

IMBA worked long and hard on getting this rule change through the Bush administration, and we believe that the Obama administration should agree with this, as it makes sense. Thanks for clicking on the link above and adding your voice to the debate.
back to table of contents4. National Bike Summit March 10-12
We wanted to let you know that just like many other special interest groups, bicycling advocates gather once a year in Washington DC to meet with our elected representatives and let them know what issues are important to us, and what actions we think our government can take to make the world a better place. This year Patty will be going along with a number of Northern California mountain biking and bicycling advocates as well as other bicycle retailers and manufacturers.
If you have any interest in participating, ordinary bicycle enthusiasts are also welcome to attend the summit and walk the halls of Capitol Hill with the rest of us. Information on the National Bike Summit is available on the League of American Bicyclists website.

To contact us, email us at info@passiontrailbikes.com, or call the shop at 650-620-9798.
