I got this info from one of the club email lists I’m on, and it makes me think we ought to take a train, and make the trip up to the city for a special shop ride to watch Klunkerz which is playing Saturday at 7pm. Rumor has it you can take the 5:48 train from Belmont, transfer to the 6:11 BART at Milbrae, and get off at 16th & Mission at 6:41.

The Bicycle Film Festival will be playing from September 19th through the 22nd in San Francisco. Along with our 8 different programs of shorts, full-length features, documentaries, animations and creative endeavors, we will also be hosting several live music events, a street party and a bicycle scavenger hunt. Tickets and specific information about the San Francisco event are at this location: http://bicyclefilmfestival.com/2007_site/sf/
We’re quite proud of the selection of films that we’re screening this year, and we’re especially excited about Klunkerz. Klunkerz is the history of the modern mountain bike. This film documents the rise of a huge cultural movement that was pioneered in Marin County on the trails of Mt. Tamalpais. Mountain Biking was born out of the creative scene surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area hippy and rock world of the sixties and seventies.

The Bicycle Film Festival celebrates the bicycle. We are into all styles of bikes and biking. If you can name it, we’ve probably either ridden or screened it. What better way to celebrate these lifestyles than through art, film, music and performance? We bring together all aspects of bicycling to advocate its ability to transport us in many ways.
