Holiday gift ideas

Black Friday, the largest shopping day of the year, is upon us. No, we won’t be offering door buster sales at 6 in the morning. We’d much rather sleep in later after riding the Apetite Seminar in Marin on Thanksgiving Morning, and then eating way too much turkey(or perhaps tofurkey) all afternoon.
But that doesn’t mean that the holidays aren’t coming (just that we’d rather spend our free time riding than shopping). So here are some gift ideas for the avid cyclist in your life…
TG Day Edit – Ok, we will open early and have awesome door busters. So, instead of the normal 10am opening time, come in at 9:59 am on Black Friday to take part in the craziness! But make sure you are early, as the door buster deals expire when our normal business hours start.

We have many different colors and styles of Sock Guy socks, including Passion Trail Bikes ones. Everyone could use another pair. And Sock Guy makes it easy to pick out the right size by having them come in 2 sizes only.

Darkness is on us quite early now, so some light to ensure you make it home safe is always nice. The Cateye HL-EL135 light are new for this year, and quite bright and good battery life for 2 AA batteries. Many other options abound for both front and rear lights, if this one doesn’t float your boat. |
If the rider in your life doesn’t have a bike computer, this could be a good to place next to the coal in the stocking. Helps them know how far and fast they are going (wouldn’t want to exceed the 15 mph speed limit on MidPen lands now, would we? Or is that why you are getting the coal?). One option is the Cateye Velo 5, though we have others also.

Under $30 |
![]() Either the Roam or the Hella Greasy EastBaygrease #2 video easily fits in the under $30 category (with change back). Both are quite enjoyable to watch. And the Hella Greasy one has many video clips which were taken on local trails and jump parks.

Over $100 |
For bigger budgets, I think the gift of the year would be an adjustable seatpost, like I wrote about in this post.
