Misc stuff

Just some misc ramblings for this week on MTBR socks, ROMP/NorCAMBA clothing, SF’s Tour de Fat, and the 8 Hour’s of Lake Sonoma Race…
- For those who use MTBR.COM, you often hear about those cool MTBR socks. Easiest way to get them is to go on a ride with one of the head MTBR folks (like Francois), as they often give the socks away. But if that doesn’t work for you, we have some here on our Sock Guy rack (not free, unfortunately).
(p.s. – hairy leg is not included with purchase of socks…)
- We also sell ROMP jerseys, NorCAMBA T-shirts, and other items from the advocacy groups. Everyone in the shop is big into doing what we can to keep the trails open to bikes. Berry is one of the folks running the trail projects at Waterdog (and is an ex-President of ROMP), Charles is heavily involved with the trail projects at the Demo, Patty works for NorCAMBA, I was on the board of ROMP for many years, etc. So helping them sell their clothes only makes sense for us (and we don’t make any profit on these sales).
- Want to go to a rather unusual bike event? New Belgium Brewery’s Tour de Fat will be on July 22 in Golden Gate Park. Beer, bikes, and music – hard to go wrong. Better yet, it is a fundraiser for the SF Bicycle Coalition and the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Check out the video clip from last year’s Tour de Fat here. Very SF style event – you won’t see this in Belmont…
- Another fun event would be Billy Cross Racing’s 8 Hours of Lake Sonoma Race on June 24. I’ve raced this a few times when I was part of Team Wrong Way (and, interestingly enough, I am in the group photo on the TWW site – can you find me?), and it was always a blast. Half of the fun was the party atmosphere that TWW brings to these events, and it looks like they are at it again for this year.
