The work in progress

Here is a series of three shots that demonstrate my progress, or lack thereof, so far. The last shot was taken last Wednesday, and I have come a little further since then, but writing orders and running around to hardware and lumber stores took its toll on my allotted time on the cement.

This is what the place looked like a few weeks ago, just before I signed the lease. Mike and Patty were taking notes so they could come up with estimates for the work that needed to be done. Mike ended up painting the ceiling and walls, and Passion is doing most everything else.

After a couple of coats each of Flat Black and Landlord White paint, and some serious floor grinding, filling, and coating this is what I had. All the light in this building this Fall day was coming through the two skylights.

Things are starting to fill out, and the echo is slightly improved. I have two benches framed, the display cabinets about where they will end up outside the office walls, and Berry has about half of the florescent lights hung.

I now have two nearly complete workbenches standing up, and am starting to arrange and hang tools on them. One will be my main service bench, where most of the service work happens, and the other will be used primarily for bike builds and estimating customer repairs. This second bench is intentionally in the middle of service department, and protruding onto the sales floor. I want, as much as each customer will, for the bike owner to be involved in the assessment of their bike repair.

Serendipity placed this bench under the skylight.
