Getting Closer...

I got a copy of the lease from our prospective landlord late last week, and put off reading it while running around taking care of what seems at times like more pressing business. I did take the time, however, to run it by my Father In Law, a property manager by trade, and got a handful of useful suggestions for edits and potential pitfalls. I also ran it by my lawyer, who two days later called to say “you should come by.” Yikes.
It turns out the lease looks good to her, and she only had 51 issues with it that we were able to go over in a hour and a half. At $300 per hour. I sent the lease back to the landlord, with my edits, and am waiting now for her comments. The silence is pretty deafening. If we can come to an agreement on the language, I will sign this weekend, and make plans to start moving in around October 10.
Meanwhile, I am crawling all over craigslist and eBay, collecting tools, tool boxes, and fixtures. Patty has bought some CAD remodel planning software and put together a pretty cool 3D floorplan, and we are starting to get a little crazy with creativity.
